Does anyone else hate it when someone on your watch list uploads a policy violation? It feels like your options are: Confront them about it and risk sounding like some irritating snob, or report it and feel like an underhanded jerk.

And I can't just let it slide... things like this bug me. Especially when the person says "Copyright me!" while it's a work derivative of copyrighted material ._.

Your thoughts?

Weird troll is weird

Got this comment on my page recently from someone I don't know and have never seen before.
Seems to be just a drive-by troll. I thought of blocking it but I'm intrigued as to what it will say next.

EDIT: It scares me so I blocked it :{

Looks like longtime forum-goer Unch got banned. Apparently he gave his password out for the trolls to do what they would with him, because he wanted to leave deviantART.
Mostly I'm just disappointed with the lack of creativity of the trolls (they just spammed some admins and ED-type targets). I for one would have made a journal saying "Goodbye deviantART, I have decided to become a fundamentalist Christian and renounce my sinful ways" or some such :D Just to mess with people's minds.

Also another forum-goer, Eldaran, passed away IRL :(
I didn't talk to her too much but it's sad that she's gone.
Makes me think about whether I would be missed online if I were to die, and how long it would take for people to find out.

Is that some old news I smell?

Seriously, I'm asking if it's old news. I remember seeing a ton of journals on the Today page about this guy months ago. Or is my lack of sleep just screwing with my brain?  Besides, I've been hearing that the entire thing is actually a hoax, though that investigation is still pending.  If it is, these guys are certainly proving Señor Habacuc's point.

One of my favourites parts of the post is his saying "If anyone even thinks about agreeing with what this man has done on my journal, save yourself the hassle because i will make sure you regret it." Because apparently investigating further is a terrible thing or something. Reminds me of Orphaned Works; no one actually wants to listen.  They just want to unleash the fury and RABBLERABBLERABBLE.

And on a different note, obligatory possible PETArd post on the subject.

So the newest drama popping up (at least I'm assuming it will, now that *SilentReaper has got a hold of it and she usually makes the Today page) is the Orphan Works bill that's being looked at soon. The journals and deviations I've seen seem that they only read a few words of the sources they link to (though in their defense, some of them just link back to other blogs of people who seemed to have a similar issue) and now think that all of their work is going to be stolen without any compensation and so on.

Maybe it's just me, but I thought this was in reference to works that were impossible to trace back to the original creator (and thus are orphaned) after a (reasonably) thorough search, and that the main controversy over it was that they weren't sure how much searching would constitute 'reasonably'. Maybe someone could help explain this to me? I mean yeah, it'd be a bitch if your work was used without your consent, but this bill seems to say that as long as you're identifiable/locatable, this shouldn't be a problem. At least that's what I get from it. I've always had trouble understanding them thar' political thangs.

Other stuff:

I mean, I'm all for making fun of people's weird fetishes, but was the knee-jerk witch-hunt reaction from half the community really necessary? :|

If you have never been to ^devart and read the comments on the front page, you should! Many lulz lurk within.
(In case you don't know, Devart is the bot account that sends deviants a message when their stuff is moved around or deleted by the admins)

Choice tidbits:
Lol wut

People like to cuss out the bot.

"I'm only 12!!!!!"

The place would be way more lulzy though if it weren't for the people copy-pasting helpful crap everywhere

Anyway, share anything amusing you've found there :D

Looks like Celestial-Heaven aka I-Heart-Hikaru is leaving dA forevars.

We'll see how long this lasts.
